Marysol Wu- saturday work

title(so far): Between
keyword: tension

We redesign the bump surface creating a gradient from the expressive bump to its desappearance and appearance of the tentacles...beginning also to provocate a small rotation and tension between the parts of it

Then we try to relate it to the other surface rhizomatic , creating spaces where both the tentacles and the extremities of the rhizomatic shape to interact between each other.
We think that the tentacles can be slides and/or ramps, that tranport you from one surface to the other.
The system of the bump surface bifurcate itself into the holes/tentacles and the ground part, creating a space in between where the other surface grows...as afunction, it is a ground to seat under this hole/tentacle "roof", the bumps surface is to seat, to have an open , recognizable space, with 360 degrees view. We think the bumps can be a soft material. The most bumped part leads to an important urban environment, and we think that it is a soft edge for the arriving of the people, where they can seat, or just lay on this bumped edge..the playground transforms itself from horizontal to vertical.
And the we have the "free movement" zone where you can climb, play, hide, have "little word" spaces...

We try to do different things that you could not achieve, for instance, we thought that the tentacles/ slides should be transparent colored tubes , where you can see children ( and adults) in movement, and at the same time, the light of the sun would go through those tubes, giving a special climax to the under ground part of it...these tubes would also be color between both sides. But we could not change the materials of the different parts because it is all combine ( and bridged). So that is why the renders are in the same colour and material. In the next post we will show the test we have made so far...
And the connection with the ground..we design some edges ..but we still have to figure out some geometric issues...but the idea is that the bump surface merge in one side and lays on the other, and the other surface come from the ground.
And we have to define the edges between the "second skin' of the bumped surface and the existing plot surface, as well as the conection between the parts.

  1. you just have to work on some refinements:

work on the scale (it is a bit to big)

please work on the ratio of the elements:
more bumpy area less tentacle area (just a bit, don't change too much)

some of the tentacles have to be thinner. Don't get me wrong not all of them, just some.

I can not see what you are doing with the ground (what is this rectangle??? why a rectangle anyways??)
please just delete your 'floor' around the tentacles and then just merge them with the ground

if this procedure is to complicated merge the whole project as it is with the existing ground
