COCOON PLAYGROUND
The main idea is to make a playground based on the cocoon`s structure. We are developing concepts such as the structure not just like the part of the building, but also as an element to play. In order to make people feel like a little insect, the playground will generate multiple walk routes reminding the idea of an antfarm labyrinth, and the scale will take an important roll as well. The three dimensions of the building will be undestood from the outside, due to the visual permeability that characterizes the cocoon itself, and by suspensions bridge inside.

At fisrt I try to manipulate the extrude and scale command to generate different surfaces- similar to the eye of an insect. This tecniches will be employed later to the loft surface that is inside the cocoon.

The first thing we try to do in Maya in order to create the cocoon`s body was a net by merging varieties of extruded surfaces over a 3d curve. This technique generate a very heavy scene that was impossible to manipulate in the computer as it grows in complexity. The other option to generate the cocoon`s superficial aspect is by making different layers of polygonal cylinders reshaped. The xray shading is very usefull for it. The different mesh densities are made by adding divisions to the faces.

Those are the first attempts to generate a more complex 3d cover of more layers, conected in some points using the bridge tool. The inside will have different levels to generate a dynamic walk through, and areas that represent overscale grass.
